“SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless headset is close to being the perfect gaming headset. Well, that’s not so surprising. The Arctis 7, its predecessor, was one of the best gaming headsets in 2018, understandably so.”
SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless – Lossless 2.4 GHz Wireless Gaming Headset – for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 – White – PlayStation 5
Apparently, SteelSeries zeroed in on some of the lingering drawbacks of Arctis 7, resolved them, and decked it up with a few enhancements. Is SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless – Lossless 2.4 GHz Wireless Gaming Headset worth buying after this delectable upgrade? Guess what? You are about to find out.
Consider this SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless headset review your detailed guide– especially if you have your doubts about this headset. Ready to find out if this headset lives up to its name?
Let’s dive in!
Who is the SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless Gaming Headset for?
- Work-from-home workers who need a headset with a microphone that would remain comfortable all-day
- Multi-platform gamers who need a gaming headset that suits any circumstance
- PlayStation fans who need a headset that’s compatible with playstation5
SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless Design
Like its predecessor, the Arctis 7p is a black plastic chassis that has an elastic Velcro fitting strap and a thin steel headband. With the elasticated head strap, you can loosen or tighten the headset to suit your needs. Moreover, it can fit different people without a hitch. All you need do is adjust the Velcro strap, and you are good to go.
SteelSeries Arctis 7P is available in white and black with blue highlights– a perfect match for your PS5. If you are big on aesthetics, this is one big point for SteelSeries.
Moving on from the color, this headset has incredibly cushy ear cups laced with breathable fabric. I sure had no trouble wearing it for a long period.
Without wearing it, it could feel heavy, but it doesn’t feel a tad heavy while you are using it. Frankly, you could forget you are wearing a headset after a while. Aesthetically, you may feel a bit conscious about wearing the SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless – Lossless 2.4 GHz Wireless Gaming Headset in public. But on the other hand, the bulkiness isn’t offensive.
The Arctis 7P right cup houses the sidetone dial for the mic monitoring and the power button. To be candid, the ability to adjust the level at which your voice is feedback is an attractive feature for streamers.
On the left cup is where most action happens. It has a retractable microphone, volume dial, 3.5 mm audio inputs, USB port, and volume dial.
Generally speaking, the SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless gaming headset controls are intuitively placed and easily accessible.
A feature that stands this headset apart is the mode of connection. Instead of the usual USB-A dongle, Arctis 7P uses a USB-C dongle coupled with a USB-A adapter. This connectivity implies that the headset is compatible with almost any platform out of the box except the X-box.
Now, considering the X-box peculiar wireless protocol, SteelSeries could have made a switch to toggle between X-box and USB like it did in the 7X model. But well, we can’t always have it all, can we?
How Comfortable is SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless Gaming Headset?
The level of comfort you get to experience while using the SteelSeries Arctis 7P headset is worth reiterating. Starting from the adjustability, the absence of notches is a blessing. The elastic band would fit perfectly, and if it doesn’t, the Velcro strap can be adjusted to fit your head.
Wearing and adjusting it isn’t only effortless; it makes it easier to share with others. Simply put, you can trust this headset to deliver comfort.
SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless headset review: Performance and Audio
While it’s ideally crafted for gaming, its excellent performance still deserves an applaud. What struck me was the fact that the performance cuts across the board.
It doesn’t matter if it’s an anime dialogue or some WWII imitation gunfire or the sound of an adventurous stealth game; the balance of voice work and music is remarkable. Plus, it has a vibrant soundscape and a stellar balance between bass and treble.
However, the audio quality could be punchier while playing music. That seems to be an upgrade that SteelSeries is yet to affect. While the dynamic range is perfect and varies from 20 to 20 000HZ for gaming, it doesn’t do justice to the music.
Listening to various genres of music on the SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless headset has proven that this headset lacks quality where music is concerned. Granted that it’s not particularly meant for music, competitor headsets have improved audio for music. So, it wouldn’t hurt to get the same from SteelSeries.
However, the clear-cast mic does an exceptional job at filtering sounds and canceling noise. Overall, it doesn’t pick much external noise.
Furthermore, the battery life is highly reliable. It claims to last up to 24 hours of use which turns out to be accurate. One feature that aids the lasting battery life is the auto-feature which conserves the battery when it’s not in use.
If you use the headset regularly, the battery can last a couple of days, give or take. But when used moderately, you may need to charge it only once in a week or twice. And whenever you get cut short due to low battery, it recharges within a couple of hours.
How Portable is SteelSeries Arctis 7P Headset?
When it comes to portability, I will give Arctis 7P a 6. For someone who loves small and handy gadgets, this might be a bit bulky. Maybe it would have made a difference if the ear cups were foldable. But we’ve got to work with what we have, right?
Well, SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless – Lossless 2.4 GHz Wireless Gaming Headset isn’t foldable. Neither does it have a case to shield it while you are on the go.
On the brighter side, the microphone is retractable. So, you didn’t need to worry about snagging it on other things in your bag.
Verdict: Lives Up to Its Name
Besides a few quibbles that keep the SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless – Lossless 2.4 GHz Wireless Gaming Headset from perfection, you have nothing to worry about. This is undoubtedly a solid headset, and it’s obviously well suited for the trendy console generation.
While it may be a little pricey, it’s worth every dime you spend. Although in need of a few tweaks, I recommend the SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless headset.
